Posted on October 31, 2020 at 5:51 pm

The new off-road racing game DIRT 5 is coming out soon, on the 10th November for Xbox and 12th November for PlayStation. The game is very much awaited and there are pre-order launch editions coming out too.

The game is created by Codemasters, and is as much about the visual and graphical elements as it is about the gameplay. The cars themselves are iconic and will entice you into the driving experience. There is a career mode, a four player split screen mode, a Playgrounds arena creator mode, and more gameplay options as well.

900bhp sprint cars, rock bouncers, rallycross cars, GT, muscle cars and more are available which is much of the appeal of the game. Pair this with 70 routes and 10 global locations to explore whilst driving in them, and you have a brand new game that is going to be beautiful, visually compelling, as well as an exciting adventure.

What Does the Future Hold for Xbox Live Gold?

Posted on July 31, 2020 at 7:34 pm

Microsoft stopped selling 12-month long subscriptions to the Xbox Live Gold service, so what does this mean for the future of it? And what could be coming in instead?

There are rumours that the Xbox Live Gold service could potentially be discontinued altogether, and instead, online multiplayer could be free. However, it is still very early and this could simply be conjecture and opinion. This would see Xbox Gold Live coming more into line with with services offered by PlayStation 4 and Switch, where free to play games do not need a subscription at all.

We will just have to wait and see what Microsoft’s plans are. If they do take this approach, Sony could feel the pressure to stop charging for online game play as well. But it all still hangs in the balance, as Microsoft could simply be changing the terms and service of the Xbox Gold Live option.

Detroit: Become Human – Adventure Meets Sci Fi

Posted on July 20, 2018 at 6:19 am

Detroit: Become Human features the stories of androids who feature in the story. It was released for PS4 earlier this year, and the signs are looking positive so far – it has sold more than one million copies since launch, which makes it Quantic Dreams’s most successful game to date. It is based on a technology demonstration from 2012 by the developers.

The plot can mainly be characterised as an adventure game, with characters having to collect clues and gather information. Collecting information gives you more power and you will be able to replay events. There are three main characters in the story. Connor is an android police investigator that looks for deviant androids not doing their job. Kara and Markus are housekeepers and they gain consciousness, which leads them to help others. There are various characters you can play as, meaning the story is never over – if your character dies, you can carry on as another one.

Tennis World Tour – a True to Life Take on Tennis

Posted on May 31, 2018 at 8:36 pm

How much can a video game ever really be like a sport? There are always going to be very fundamental differences, as well as quirks of gameplay that just cannot be related to the real thing. Tennis World Tour, though, is making a good go of being true to life when it comes to professional tennis.

Tennis World Tour is a much more mature version of tennis video gaming than its predecessors. Much more attention has been paid to timing the shot just right, and this will massively affect the difficult of scoring points. You will also be expected to think strategically, rather like a professional tennis player. You won’t be able to play in every tournament, and will have to decide on certain ones, focusing on the types of court you like playing on.

Tennis World Tour was released earlier this month and you can buy it on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows and Nintendo Switch.
